How to properly organize moving
Preparation for moving
The organization for us is the alpha and the omega. The proper work is based on the right classification of things. Moving can be an exciting yet challenging experience. Whether it’s a new residence, a new city, or even a new state, there are many things to consider to ensure a comfortable and smooth move. Here are some tips to help you organize a successful move.
For the best preparation, make a list early on of all the jobs that need to be done during the move. Split the tasks into those that need to be done before, during, and immediately after the move. Also, organize in advance the responsibilities of each family member so that everything is carried out more easily and coordinated. Also, set the date of the move in advance and negotiate the transportation services. If possible, try to choose a day that is not too busy to avoid any delay issues.
Transfer Process
In addition, do not forget to start all the necessary time-consuming procedures as soon as possible to stop/transfer/start services (telephone, electricity, etc.) from your old to your new residence and to inform all those concerned (friends, relatives, public services, banks) to change your address.
Start organizing your belongings on time. Clean out unnecessary items and decide what to take with you and what to leave behind. So, take advantage of this process as it is a unique opportunity for changes in your home. You can change items that you have always had in mind and sort out those that are no longer useful to you. Either broken or worn out, a bunch of stuff that was needed once but you’re not going to use it again and there’s no reason it should be carried around unnecessarily. It can be a good opportunity to donate to humanitarian organizations or sell things you no longer need.
Cleanliness
An equally important part of moving properly is cleanliness. Thoroughly clean your new home before moving it in, and leave your old one as clean as possible. Certainly, when a space is clean, placing the objects is much faster and of course relaxing. It is also important that the objects that you will go to your new home are also clean so that you can place them immediately.
Packing
Build a box with essentials such as clothing, personal items and cleaning essentials. This will allow you to access these items easily during the move. Label the boxes containing essentials by putting a distinctive mark on the outside of the box so that when you arrive you will have all the necessary items available.
Extra large boxes should be used to store lighter and bulkier items such as household items-cookware. Regular sized or smaller boxes are best for compact and heavier items for ease of handling. In each box the heaviest items should be placed at the bottom and the lightest at the top. You can leave a small space at the top of each box to cover with a towel or pillow if necessary. Be careful not to overfill the boxes so that they are sealed, stacked properly and then transported easily.
With a thick marker (or even better with labels) mark all the boxes. Write something that immediately helps you understand where the things in the box go, such as the room, the spot in the room, and the items (eg “Kitchen, upper cabinets, dishes”). Prefer to note on the sides this information and strongly mark boxes containing fragile items. Thus, even someone other than yourself will be able to fit them quickly, correctly and save time.
Conclusion
Moving can be challenging, but with proper planning and preparations, it can go smoothly. By following these tips, you can ensure that your move is a positive experience, leaving stress behind and enjoying your new surroundings.
